The MMR vaccine is the safest and most effective way to protect yourself against measles, mumps and rubella. Measles activity in England is at low levels due to the success of the MMR vaccination programme. Despite this, 149 new measles infections were confirmed in the last quarter of 2017, compared to 37 in the period between July and September 2017. The total number of confirmed cases in England in 2017 was 267, compared to 531 in 2016.
This programme was introduced in April 2013 to immunise patients over the age of 16 years who are not fully vaccinated.
If you have not completed your MMR vaccinations, please contact the surgery to book an appointment, alternatively you can contact the surgery to find out if you are still due your first MMR vaccination.
