We are fortunate enough to have a large team of doctors working at the practice. All GPs are skilled to treat acute (short duration, in need of urgent care) and chronic (long-term) illnesses. They also provide preventative care and health education for all ages and sexes.
Dr Juliane Matthies (Female)

Personal profile: Dr Matthies has been a GP at The Orchard Medical Centre since 2005, and became a partner in 2011.
Professional interests: I enjoy the wide spectrum of working in General Practice. I am involved in teaching our own staff as well as in teaching GP trainees and other doctors.

Dr Richard Berkley (Male)

Personal profile: Dr. Berkley has been a partner and GP at The Orchard Medical Centre since 1995. He went to medical school and post graduate training in Sheffield and qualified in 1991. He has also gained experience from working abroad in India and New Zealand. Since 2019 he has been clinical director of network 4 Primary Care Network representing over 68,000 patients in a group of 4 practices in Bristol and South Glos.
Professional interests: I am particularly interested in Cardiology. Until 2020 I also worked as GP with Special Interest (GPwSI) in the field of Heart Failure, Hypertension, Cholesterol and Cardiovascular Risk management. I like the broad range of medicine that you are involved with in Primary Care, dealing with people and not just the diseases they present with. I enjoy working in a big practice with a team of people with different skills. We work hard to try and improve access for patients and there has been terrific pressure and change over recent years.
I hope to see doctors, nurses, pharmacists and other health professionals working together to give people what they need, and in a way that protects continuity of care for those that need this, and convenience of access for others too.

Dr Sarah Grant (Female)

Personal profile: Dr Grant joined The Orchard Medical Centre as an associate GP in November 2010. She qualified from The University of Nottingham in 2002, and became a partner in 2013.
Professional interests: I enjoy all aspects of general practice, but have a particular interest in substance misuse and urology. I teach 4th Year medical students from the University of Bristol who attend the practice on Wednesdays.
Dr Rebecca Hennessy (Female)

Personal profile: Dr Hennessy joined The Orchard Medical Centre as an associate GP in March 2019 and became a partner in November 2019. She qualified from the University of Leeds in 1999 and did her post graduate training in Australia and the UK. Dr Hennessy has worked as a GP in Bristol since 2004.
Professional interests: I enjoy the wide range of people and conditions we care for in primary care and have particular interests in palliative care, mental health, care home medicine and sustainable general practice.
Dr David Salmon (Male)

Personal profile: Dr Salmon joined the practice in August 2021 after completing his GP training here at The Orchard Medical Centre. He qualified from Imperial College London in 2011 and is currently studying for a Master of Public Health and a Diploma in lifestyle medicine.

Dr Kethon Mahmud (Male)

Personal profile: Dr Mahmud joined The Orchard Medical Centre as an associate GP in April 2019. He qualified in Cardiff in 2003.
Professional interests: Dr Mahmud trained for many years in orthopaedics and trauma, and also enjoys all aspects of general medicine.
Dr Alice Cooper (Female)
Personal profile: Dr Cooper joined as an associate GP in September 2020 after finishing her GP training at The Orchard Medical Centre. She qualified from the University of Leeds in 2013 and moved down to Bristol to complete her GP training.
Professional interests: I have a particular interest in frailty and care of the elderly.I also enjoy the wide variety of patients we see in general practice and working with a number of different colleagues in the community.
